Your NUDA Spray Tan Questions, Answered by Sugarmoon®

At Sugarmoon®, we’re all about helping you feel beautiful in your glow, especially when it comes to sunless tanning. With our professional Nuda Spray Tan service now available, we’re answering your most frequently asked questions so you can feel fully prepped (and excited!!) for your appointment.

Can I go swimming after my spray tan?

Yes, but timing matters. After your spray tan appointment, you’ll want to wait 6–8 hours before rinsing to allow your tan to fully develop. Once you’ve rinsed, you’re good to swim.

Keep in mind that chlorine and salt water can cause your tan to fade more quickly, so if you’re planning pool or beach time, proper aftercare will help maintain your glow.

Are NUDA products vegan and cruelty-free?

Absolutely. Nuda is 100% vegan and certified by the Vegan Society, as well as cruelty-free and certified by Leaping Bunny.

Are NUDA formulas clean and non-toxic?

Yes, this is one of the reasons we love working with Nuda! Proudly formulated in Canada, Nuda uses plant-based, naturally derived ingredients that align with clean beauty standards. Their formulas are free from parabens, sulfates, mineral oils, dyes, gluten, and synthetic fragrances.

Instead, they’re packed with skin-loving ingredients like aloe vera, cucumber, chamomile, coconut oil, vitamin C, vitamin E, and hyaluronic acid.. helping to hydrate and support your skin while delivering a natural-looking tan.

Can I get a spray tan if I have eczema?

If you have eczema, you may still be able to enjoy a Nuda spray tan, with a little extra care. The formulas include soothing ingredients that can support the skin, but since eczema-prone skin can be more sensitive, we always recommend:

  • Doing a patch test 24 hours before your appointment

  • Avoiding spray tanning during active flare-ups

  • Checking in with your dermatologist if you’re unsure

Our experts are always here to guide you and help ensure your service is as comfortable as possible.

Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Nuda spray tans are generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The active ingredient (DHA) works only on the outermost layer of the skin and is not absorbed into the bloodstream.

As an added precaution, we recommend:

  • Avoiding the breast/nipple area while nursing

  • Consulting your doctor if you have specific concerns

Why do self-tanners sometimes have a smell?

That “self-tan scent” comes from a natural reaction between DHA and the amino acids in your skin.

The good news? Nuda uses odor-neutralizing technology and refined ingredients to minimize this effect, so your glow smells as good as it looks.

Does a spray tan protect me from the sun?

No, spray tans do not provide UV protection. If you’re heading outdoors, always apply sunscreen. We recommend pairing your glow with a broad-spectrum SPF.

How do I get the best results on hands and feet?

Don’t worry, we’ve got you. During your spray tan, our trained experts carefully apply barrier cream and blend product to ensure a seamless, natural finish, especially in tricky areas like hands, feet, elbows, and knees.

We also recommend moisturizing dry areas beforehand to help everything develop evenly.

How long will my spray tan last?

Your Nuda spray tan will typically last up to 7 days, depending on your skin and aftercare routine.

To keep your glow going strong:

  • Exfoliate before your appointment

  • Moisturize daily

  • Use gentle, hydrating body wash

  • Avoid excessive exfoliation after your tan develops

A well-prepped and hydrated skin = a longer-lasting, more even fade.
