Valentines Rituals
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be loud or elaborate to be meaningful. Some of the most romantic moments happen when you slow down together, letting care, touch, and intention become the focus.
This at-home ritual is designed to feel like a quiet escape. Here’s one that we’ve designed for you. It covers skincare, hair care, and massage, all done gently, and all meant to be shared.
Step One: Set the Mood
Before any product is opened, set the tone for relaxation. This is where your senses shift out of “doing” mode and into receiving.
Light a Sugarmoon Candle nearby and dim the lights. The warm, comforting glow helps to signal to your body that it’s time to slow down.
Run a warm bath and add a Bath Soak. These are great for softening both the body and the nervous system, and creating a relaxing, aromatic environment. Scents like Lavender + Chamomile or Eucalyptus + Mint help calm the mind and ease tension, while mineral-rich salts support tired muscles. Our favorites are the Sugarmoon Lavender and Vanilla Soak for relaxation, and the Bathorium BeCalm Bubble Elixir if a bubble-bath is more your vibe.
Another great option are Bath Bombs. Known for their clean ingredients and luxurious feel, Bathorium has an array of great options to elevate your bath. Floral-forward scents like the Snooze Bomb and Aphrodite are our faves for Valentines, plus the floating petals create a dreamy soak.
Let the bath be unhurried. No phones. No agenda. Just presence.
Step Two: Self Care, Together.
Once the body feels relaxed and warm, move into skincare and hair care. This is an easy way to care for each other while encouraging connection.
Sheet face masks are ideal for couples because they deliver results in a simple, easy to apply package. Whether you choose a hydrating, calming, or firming mask, these treatments focus on restoring balance, improving texture, and supporting the skin barrier. Our favorites are Repêchage Biolight for brightening, or the Repêchage Red-Out for skin that needs gentle care.
Apply the mask to each other gently and intentionally. Take your time. The act of applying skincare for someone else is just as restorative as the treatment itself.
While the masks work their magic, treat your hair to a Kevin Murphy hair mask. These formulas deeply nourish without weighing the hair down, making them perfect for a weekly ritual. Not sure which line is best for you? The Kevin Murphy site has a quiz that you and your partner can answer for customized care.
Gently massage the mask through the lengths and ends, then wrap hair in a warm towel. Healthy hair, hydrated skin, and a few quiet minutes together. What more could you ask for?
Step Three: The Power of Touch
Massage doesn’t need to be complicated to be effective. Slow movements, steady pressure, and mindful touch are what matter most.
Hands carry so much tension, yet they’re often overlooked. Using Sugarmoon Shine Body Lotion or your favorite equivalent, warm a small amount between your palms. Start with long, gliding strokes from wrist to fingertips, then move into small circular motions along the palm and thumb pad. Gently pull and release each finger.
This is incredibly grounding and deeply relaxing, perfect if one or both of you spend a lot of time on phones or keyboards.
Next, focus on the face. Choose your favorite facial serum based on your skin’s needs, apply a few drops and begin with slow, upward strokes.
Pay special attention to areas that often hold hidden tension, like some of these common ones:
Eyebrow Pressure Points: Using your thumbs, apply gentle pressure along the brow bone, moving from the inner brow outward. This can help release eye strain and mental fatigue.
Jaw Pressure Points: Place your fingertips at the hinge of the jaw and make slow, circular movements. This area is a major stress holder, especially for those who clench or grind.
Sternocleidomastoid (Neck Muscle): Often missed, this long muscle runs from behind the ear down the side of the neck. Using light pressure, glide downward with slow strokes. This can dramatically reduce neck tension and encourage deeper relaxation. Feel free to transition this into a gentle trapezius massage if your partner holds tension there.
Finish with gentle sweeping motions down the neck and across the shoulders to bring the body back into balance, and finish the night enjoying each other’s company.
Step Four: Intention
This isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about choosing softness, intention, and connection. When skincare and touch are approached as care rather than correction, they become a shared language; one that says, I see you and I’m here.
