Which Bend Beauty Product is Right for Me?

Which Bend Beauty Product is Right for Me?

Without question, we recommend that everyone start by taking Renew + Protect. If you’re only going to take one Bend product, this is the one for you. This is a foundational product for a fantastic skincare routine, as it provides the greatest overall benefit in one product. Not only does this product improve skin hydration, elasticity, and firmness, roughness, and redness (from skin inflammation) and provide antioxidants for skin health – but it also is clinically proven to reduce skin sensitivity to UV-induced sunburn. The active ingredients in Renew + Protect work synergistically to produce optimal results in your skin. From omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids to powerful antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin, think of Renew + Protect as your superpower skin health elixir. Again, we always recommend starting with this product, to give yourself the best possible foundation for all other products to work even better.

This brings us to Marine Collagen + Co-Factors! Collagen production in our bodies begins to decline in our 20s, but new research shows that collagen peptides can stimulate cells to increase collagen production. Collagen is essential in providing structure to the skin. The decline in collagen production leads to skin laxity, fine lines, and wrinkles. Ingesting Marine Collagen gives your body the boost it needs to formulate collagen, helping you to maintain healthy skin, hair, and nails. Bend Marine Collagen + Co-Factors is specially formulated with collagen co-factors (vitamin C and silicon) which ensure that the collagen you’re building is healthy and resilient.

These two products are in fact, designed to work together synergistically; think of Renew + Protect as preventing damage in the skin and Marine Collagen + Co-Factors as promoting repair. We like to think of Renew + Protect as the foundation, and Marine Collagen + Co-Factors as the beauty boost. So while you may or may not take both, you certainly will see your best results when you combine these powerful products.

GUT GLOW is our newest Bend Beauty offering, and it’s a gut health supplement designed to work with your body to support your individual needs. It delivers clinically studied soluble fibers, Sunfiber® (partially hydrolyzed guar gum) and inavea™ (acacia gum), as well as tremella (also known as, silver ear) (Tremella fuciformis) mushroom extract to support healthy gastrointestinal function, improve regularity, and aid in immune system regulation. We formulated this product as we know there is a strong connection between gut health and skin health. Not only that, but a properly functioning gastrointestinal tract is crucial to your overall health and well-being. Taking GUT GLOW daily is an excellent way to ensure you’re keeping your gut beautiful & balanced.

The liver is a multifunctional organ that is involved in maintaining your body’s nutrient and hormonal balance, and detoxification. Since your skin obtains its nutrients from the bloodstream, reduced liver function often first appears in the skin. Therefore, providing your body with nutrients proven to support healthy skin, protect against oxidative damage caused by free radicals as well as aid liver function act together to optimize skin health. We recommend adding RESET to your Bend Beauty routine 2-4 times per year for a minimum of 3 weeks for best results, although it is suitable for long-term use.

All About Rosehip

All About Rosehip

You may or may not have heard about the amazing benefits of rosehip, so we thought we would share some of the reasons why you should try it for yourself! Let's start by discussing where rosehip comes from.

Rosehip is also referred to as Rosehip Seed, and it comes from the rose bushes after a rose has flowered and dropped its petals. It leaves behind seeds, which look like tiny red buds, and the oil is then extracted from these seeds.

Here are some amazing benefits of Rosehip Seed Oil:

-Nourishes & hydrates all skin types
-Natural skin brightener
-Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles and improves the overall complexion of the skin
-Rich in vitamins & antioxidants for a youthful, healthy glow
-One of the most common uses of Rosehip Seed Oil is to help heal scarring, sun damage, stretch marks, and uneven skin tones. This is due to the high fatty acid properties that help regenerate skin cells. Rosehip is rich also rich in antioxidants, such as Beta-carotene, and is one of nature’s richest plants that contain a high source of Vitamin C. This is what also gives its anti-aging benefits, as the high Vitamin C content helps stimulate collagen production.

Skin Essence's Rosehip Seed oil is 100% pure, cold-pressed, unrefined, and organic! Our oils are manufactured locally in small batches and packaged in eco-friendly amber glass bottles for optimal freshness.

No additives or fillers, just the goodness of Rosehip Seed!

Glowing Summer Skin

The Secret for Glowing Summer Skin

“What’s my secret for the summer? It’s the Sjolie bronzing mousse!
As someone with a dark skin tone, I always loved how my skin looked when I went on vacation, so when I tried bronzing mousse for the first time I was blown away with the results.
I apply 2 coats and let it develop overnight. I also like to contour my face to give myself a bronzed and sculpted look without having to apply makeup. I rinse it off in the morning, leaving my skin with a deep color and a golden glow. I exfoliate regularly to help it fade evenly and reapply as needed to maintain the colour. This mousse is buildable so you can customize how dark your tan looks by reapplying throughout the week.
I love that the Sjolie bronzing mousse is amazing for all skin types and is so easy to use. I’ve recommended it to all of my friends and it’s quickly become the must-have for the summer.”

what to know when you’re choosing your serum

what to know when you’re choosing your serum

Vitamin A – for mature skin

Most people have heard of Retinol, or Retin A, these come from vitamin A. Retinol is a fantastic anti-aging ingredient that can seem more intimidating than it needs to. Besides knowing that Retinol works like an exfoliant, causing your cells to turn over more quickly than usual, there are just a few key things to know when it comes to using Retinol.

1.       You’ll want to build up your tolerance for it. This means that for a few weeks, you’ll just use the product one a week, then twice a week for a few weeks, then three times, and so on. Depending on the strength/percentage of the Retinol you may hit a point where your skin feels a little sensitive or dryer than you’d expect, that means you’ve gone a little further than your skin likes, so go back to the number of days that felt good and stay there.

2.       You have to wear SPF when you use Retinol! This is a deal breaker! Retinol can make your skin more UV sensitive, and getting a sunburn will work directly against what you’re trying to achieve with your Retinol, so pick up some sunscreen when you buy your Retinol!

3. You can’t have any hair removal done in the area you’re using Retinol! Because of it’s exfoliating power, you’re more likely to experience damage to the skin with hair removal. Make sure to let your technician know if you’re using Retinol, it may change your visit a little.

4.       You only need to use this product where you feel you need it. This is not necessarily an all over your face serum, although you may prefer to use it that way. Different areas of your skin may have different needs so pay attention to how your skin feels as you’re using it, and if it feels like your cheeks may not be the right place for it, stop using it there. Nice and easy!

Vitamin B – for dry, sensitive and breakout prone skin

When we’re talking about vitamin B, we’re talking about Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinimide. Two very serious words for such beautiful ingredients. Your skin naturally produces Hyaluronic Acid, which helps keep your skin naturally hydrated. When you add extra Hyaluronic Acid you’re adding a ton of extra moisture and helping your skin hold onto it. Then we’ve got Niacinimide, which has become a very popular ingredient recently with good reason. Niacinimide is also something you naturally produce and it’s a great calming ingredient. It can help reduce inflammation and redness that comes with dry or sensitive skin, plus it can help people with breakouts and acne not only heal more quickly, but to reduce the redness that comes with those breakouts.

Vitamin C – for dull or uneven skin and for mature skin

Vitamin C has become a common and popular ingredient lately as well. Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant making it helpful for anti-aging effects but more than that it helps to brighten dull skin, can help to repair pigmentation and can help collagen production. It’s gentle enough to be used twice a day for maximum results, but like our friend Vitamin A/Retinol, you’ll absolutely need to wear sunscreen when using Vitamin C.  Vitamin C has been shown to be more effective when it’s used in conjunction with sunscreen, plus you’ll want to make sure that hard work you’re putting in has the effect you’re looking for!

cricel’s experience with vitamin b

cricel’s experience with vitamin b

The cold and dry weather paired with wearing a mask has reeked havoc on my skin!  Not only is the skin underneath the mask dry and dehydrated, the skin around the corner of my lip is flaky, my lip has split and I’ve also been breaking out.  It is extremely uncomfortable and painful. My usual collection of skincare products weren’t quite getting the job done, so I needed to explore some new ideas to heal my skin.  Solution…Sugarmoon’s vitamin B serum.

Sugarmoon’s Vitamin B serum (Hyaluronic Acid B5 and Niacinamide B3) is great for dry and breakout prone skin types.

Vitamin B5 is hydrating and promotes wound healing and is useful for normal to dry skin types. Skin loves hyaluronic acid because it already contains it. Primarily found in skin, it helps maintain moisture but in winter it needs the extra boost, so adding it topically is super effective.

Vitamin B3 is especially beneficial for sensitive and acne-prone skin and is antibacterial and helps to reduce pigmentation. Know to improve the brightness and appearance of skin, niacinamide has become a very popular addition to skincare routines for almost any skin type. These vitamins are also very versatile antioxidants which help to improve the texture of my skin, reduces inflammation and can even help to repair the look of fine lines.

After a week of using the serum twice a day….Voila! My skin is much more supple, hydrated, less red and much calmer.

need eye cream

greta’s answer to an often asked question… do i need eye cream?

As an esthetician , over the years I have been asked so many times by clients:

“Why do I need to use an Eye Cream?”

Incorporating an Eye Cream into your daily skincare routine can help minimize the appearance of wrinkles as well as tackle other skin concerns like dryness, puffiness, dark circles and pigmentation . The skin around the eyes is thinner and shows signs of aging more quickly than other areas of the face. This is why the delicate skin around your eyes, needs an extra dose of attention, which a regular face moisturizer might not be able to deliver.

Since I started working with Sugarmoon, I have only used our beautiful products because they are organic and promote a healthy skin and lifestyle. Once I discovered our Sugarmoon Eye Cream and I can say that I am very happy with the scent, texture and the results.

This beautiful Eye Cream is good for all skin types .

Its infused with soothing Cucumber oil  which helps to reduce puffiness,

Native Kakudu plum extract  aids in strengthening capillary walls which can reduce the effect of dark circles around the delicate eye area.

It’s really easy to use: in the morning and evening after cleansing your face. Depress pump slightly. Use sparingly, about ½ grain of rice. Place cream on the tips of the fingers and gently press around the lower eye and orbital area paying particular attention to any crow’s feet.

The certified organic and beautiful ingredients at work include:

Aloe Vera leaf juice, Jojoba seed oil, Shea butter, Avocado oil, Macadamia seed oil, Cucumber seed oil, Vitamin E, Kakadu plum fruit extract, Quandong fruit extract.

Enjoy the amazing benefits of this beautiful product and you won’t be disappointed.
